The Level

Room piece

Created as a room piece, this larger form has been designed with 3 separate horizontal levels. The interaction asks the viewer which to choose, the surface on top with easy accessibility, the middle level to the side that offers an area away from the rest, or the level below which provides seclusion. Every function is equally useful for the type of object that is being placed upon it. The 3 elements are each orientated in oposing directions from the centre. Every view is individual and the viewer is aware of a tension from each of the 3 pieces relying on the other 2 components for stability. The question is whether we should put things on this or just accept its precarious state visually.
